  The gravitational pull of the Earth, its tides, the Moon and the Sun, is relative to the magnetism between thought and drawing. An idea exists in the mind and is expelled through the arm into bleeding utensil onto a surface. Something is formed from inherently nothing and attempts to display that which is not there – a physical thought.

 

Through careful expedition into the boundlessness of existence and consciousness, I pursue a meditative drawing practice conveying the substance of thought and feeling. I engage with ideas of experiential values; the stillness of air, the movement of water, and the silent solitude of thinking and being. My influence is drawn from the philosophical writings of Jean-Paul Sartre, and Alan Watts, who discuss on opposite spectrums the nature of existence and reality.

 

Uncertainty and the transient experience of life is the core of my work, my research pulls together elements of the astrophysical, the psychological, and the poetic. My perceptions and depictions of the immaterial - emotion, weather, space, and time - drive my methods of working. I implement gestural, durational, and figurative methods of drawing which attempt to defy the confines of space and meaning.
